The Jefferson Rams Women’s Volleyball team delivered a strong performance Tuesday, Oct.13, 2026 against Goldey Beacom University’s (BCU) volleyball with a 3-set sweep at the Gallagher Athletic Center.
Now about halfway through conference, the women’s volleyball team has earned 7 total conference wins, with an overall season record of 16-5. Alexa Mork, a 5’10 junior outside hitter and Pemi Areola, a 6’0 junior middle blocker, led the Rams offensively with a total of 10 kills each, contributing to this crucial win for the Rams.
The Rams had an impressive start to the first set with a perfect pass from Kate Hines, a 5’3 sophomore Libero, an assist by Lyllah Sapp, a 5’9 freshman setter, then a first ball kill by Pemi Areola.

As the first set continued, Abby Schessler, a 5’7 sophomore defensive specialist, subbed in, went back to the service line and scored the first ace of the match! The Rams finished the first set with 10 aces, 16 kills and a final score of 25-18.
Rolling into the second set, the Rams lost some momentum but quickly picked it back up starting with another kill by Pemi Areola. Alexa Mork was then at the service line, scoring yet another ace.
The Rams huddled at center court to celebrate, with their cheers echoing throughout the Gallagher Athletic Center. The second set was an intense battle, but our Rams ran an efficient offense and fed off the energy of the home crowd, carrying that momentum onto the court and finishing the set 26-24.

Heading into the third and final set Lyllah Sapp pushed a ball to Emily Mckenna, a 5’9 senior outside hitter, despite a difficult angle, Mckenna found an open spot cross court for the kill!
The Rams sideline expressed great energy and excitement after each rally and play. To end the match, Alexa Mork dug up a tough coverage ball to Lyllah Sapp, who then set to Liz Tanis, the 5’9 junior middle blocker, who firmly contacted the ball and swung toward a deep corner, scoring the final point of the match!
The final score of the third set was 25-22 with a total of 42 kills, 44 digs and 10 aces! With another victory, Rams volleyball looks to build Tuesday's performance when they return to Gallagher Athletic Center for their next non-conference match against Kutztown University and then a conference match soon after against Georgian Court University. Go Rams!
