Friday, April 17- After a long semester of hard work and late rehearsals, Jefferson’s on-campus theater group, Gemini Theatre Club, had an incredible opening to their play, 8 Minutes Left.
Occurring in a series of vignettes following characters in Charlesville, N.J., the play is a dark comedy detailing the final eight minutes of life on Earth before the world ends at 4:44 p.m.
Commenting on her involvement in the play, actress Abbey Bradshaw said, “Working on this project was such a delight and a wonderful way to get engaged on campus. I love getting involved in any sort of theater I can, so to work with such a dedicated and supportive group made it even more rewarding…I thought that the story was such a creative concept that was super exciting to put our own twist on.”

Utilizing crafty set designs mixed with a perfectly curated playlist, the theatre group did an incredible job immersing the audience in the fictional world of the play. While at times, the vignettes were deeply reflective of humanity, the play was also wildly hilarious, taking on a sarcastic tone as it highlighted the different ways that the varying characters dealt with the knowledge that the world was ending.
Regarding the complexity of the characters that they played, En Gregoriev commented, “Elijah and Derek were both two different characters that were more so comedic reliefs, but [are] complex characters that I enjoyed embodying through each rehearsal and getting to understand deeper.”
Ultimately, the cast and crew of this show did an incredible job bringing this play together. The effort put into crafting each set and picking individual songs was reflected in the quality of the set and performance.
