Roxboro Roundtables partnered with Delta Phi Epsilon sorority to host a discussion on body image issues in society and how the media has perpetuated them. They touched on topics such as the rise of social media forcing more unattainable body standards onto people, red-pill rhetoric affecting how men feel about their bodies, and ways we, as a society, can try to rewrite this wrong. The media has been pushing body “trends” for as long as it has been around, and these trends are constantly evolving. This has placed an unhealthy expectation on people to change their own bodies to fit in. It is now up to us to try to fix what has been broken. We can challenge harmful beauty standards through the media we support, the language we use, and the way we treat ourselves and others. More resources can be found at https://anad.org/
